Inter-library Loans

I am SO FRUSTRATED …

Called up yesterday to check why they haven’t replied the email i sent them 3 weeks ago with regard to the application for inter-library loans … They said they never received the applications after cross-referencing with my mentor’s name and asked me to re-send again … Fine … =(

Received an email today,

Dear Ms Koh,

Firstly, we wish to extend our apologies for overlooking your 2 interlibrary loan requests. We wish to inform you that the titles that you had requested for are available in Chinese Library and Wang Gungwu Library.  Item (2) is loaned out and you may wish to reserve it. As we have the titles, we will be cancelling your interlibrary loan requests.  Do let us know if you have further queries.

Hello, who is in the right mind to request for an inter-library loan if you can find the books in your school? Requested for them because i have a specific publisher in mind that NTU just happened to have all the other versions but NOT THIS…!!!

By the way, i am the one who is holding on to item (2) she mentioned in her email.

Replied her,

I am aware that NTU have the 2 books I requested and had borrowed it before. But the ones I had requested are from a more recognized publisher in this field and the content is slightly extensive than other similar publications. So, I was hoping to verify how much of the content I had missed out after comparing with the version I had now. If possible, I would still like to have a look at the books I had requested earlier. Thank you.

In the end, i received this message,

FANTASTIC … Was hoping to give my mentor a surprise on Friday and said, “I found them!!!” Oh well, guess i shouldn’t pin my hopes too high that they would process my applications and just stick to my current version. Or as AY said, i shouldn’t be overly persistent over the problem of just a different publisher, even though this may be the version everyone is using.

In fact, i have more bigger problems to tackle with now; that is being too ambitious … It will be difficult to balance the extensiveness of the report with the 20,000 word-limit. Cut theory B or don’t? It will be better if i don’t cut, but that will be at the expense of my word-count allocated to chapter 2 and 3 … Interesting vs. Extensive???

Arghhhhhhhhh!!!  

Meeting my mentor on Friday; i am not sure if i want to tell her about this cos i made a dumb mistake by telling her some nonsense at the last meeting. Will she think i am lazy if she knows i plan to never let her see theory B again in my FYP report?

Having a terrible headache …

P.S: hope chapter 1 can pass through her scutinization … =(

1.26am: Finally emailed my chapter 1 to my mentor … And i just made my biggest decision this week; told her in the email that i am going to omit the part on Freud’s “narcissism”. But …
